June Presidents message
Can you believe that we are almost halfway through this year! I remember as a child that the days, months and years used to take forever - as I just completed 75 laps around the sun I now realize how fast time flies!
Thinking about how fast time flies - just think how fast Amateur Radio has advanced since Marconi had his first success with the wireless telegraph in 1896. A visit to our museum will bring memories to most of our senior folks and I have seen the gleam in the eyes of most of your younger visitors as they take a journey back in time.
Some of our members are really helping us promote our unique facility and I want to take this opportunity to recognize Carl Block (N2VQO) who produces and publishes our YouTube and Instagram videos. His contribution to our Shack has brought many inquiries and new members. What is exciting is that most of the viewing is by folks 25-35 years young. Ever since Marconi had his first success - our hobby has advanced into many areas of interest, and it is imperative we encourage our new members. It is really satisfying to have members and visitors stop by to use our facilities to enhance their knowledge and share their experiences.
As the summer begins to heat up please check our website often for class schedules, shop for that special piece of equipment or any replacement parts you might need. Our Website is kept up to date by Greg (K7YDL) and Frank (K7SD) is teaming up with Greg bringing his expertise further. We hope you enjoy viewing our website.
The West Valley Ham Shack will be participating later this month for Summer Field Day and more information will be posted on our website (West Valley Ham Shack).
We are very proud of our accomplishments since opening 6 years ago and we are striving to continue offering you a great experience as we promote electronics and radio knowledge, providing a workshop, radio room, store, parts for your projects and a great museum. If you have any questions regarding parts for your project -please contact Dick (KE7RD) at 623-414-7514.
Please stay healthy, safe, humble and kind.
73,
Fred K7WFP
