Free Parts Available
The inventory of parts available for members is impressive. We have thousands of items for members to use for their own projects and experiments. If you need components, before you order and pay for them, come by the facility and see if we have what you need. This includes hardware (screws, nuts, washers, wire, etc.) and electronic components as well. Some new, old stock (NOS), some brand new, and some removed from equipment donated to the Shack. Electrical components can be tested on-site, before you take them to make sure they will meet your needs. Here are some of the parts and pieces on-hand
It would be nearly impossible to list all of the items available on the shelves and in the storage drawers throughout the facility. Listed below are some samples of what we have.
Resistors
Many styles, sizes, wattage, and types. Fixed and variable. Carbon composition, carbon film, metal film, metal oxide, wire wound, thermistor, fusable, rheostat, trimmer, surface mount, and more.
Capacitors
Fixed, mica, paper, film, ceramic, electrolytic, air variable, polyester, and more.
Inductors
Both homebrewed and commercially made, air core, iron core, molded, shielded, bobbin, ferrite, toroidal. coupled, tuning coils, and more.
Transistors
BJT NPN & PNP, FET JFET & MOSFET, P-type, N-type, and more.
Hardware
Chassis feet, knobs, dials, buttons, switches, screws, nuts, washers (many sizes), connectors, LED displays, wire of many gauges, coax, antenna parts, antenna mounting components, and much more.
Tubes
The number of tubes is too high to try to list here. If you need a tube, just ask. Chances are we have an exact tube or a suitable substitute. We can test tubes before you take them, or bring in tubes you want to test.
