Historian visits West Valley Ham Shack

On Tuesday Oct. 22, 2024 the Shack had a special visitor, looking to interview our founder and benefactor of the WVHS club. Jayme Kurland conducted an interview with Dick Stout KE7RD while visiting the west coast from her home in Virginia. Jayme is a Ph.D. Student at George Mason University focusing on digital history of musical instruments and musical materials. Her doctoral thesis is on the Fender Amplifier company in the years prior to it's acquisition by CBS.

Many of you know our own Dick Stout was a principle at Fender working alongside Leo Fender in the 'tweed' years, about 1955-1963. Dick has invaluable insights into the management, production, circuit designs, and staffing of Fender. He has a treasure trove of data that Jayme could not reproduce from any other source. Imagine her excitement meeting for this interview!
