Stepping back in time in the history of ham radio

greg22096

March 3rd saw 10 volunteers arrive at the West Valley Ham Shack building to begin a journey backwards in the history of our hobby.

The Shack recently took possession of thousands of QSL cards collected over two lifetimes, beginning at the origin of licensed ham radio in 1920! Included in the sorting process were cards issued over 8 decades, each recounting the details of a QSO held between two hams. We marveled at the cards that were official 'RELAY' stations, and even more so when the station description included the details of the senders Spark Gap Transmitter! The cards are being made available in packets representing these 80 years. A big THANKS to our trusty sorters.
